Visiting Bass Lake Cheese Factory is like taking a step back in time - in a good way. Established in 1918, Bass Lake was one of the first specialty cheese factories producing handmade artisan cheeses from different milk sources: cows and goats. Today, six-time Master Cheesemaker Scott Erickson creates many variations - even some Bass Lake originals, like butter jack with cinnamon (mmmm). Bass Lake is proud to make award-winning cheeses the old-fashioned way, with traditional recipes handed down from generation to generation. They also love experimenting with new and diverse specialty cheeses, making your visit to their factory nothing short of exciting!

Scott discovered his passion for cheesemaking while working at a cheese plant in college. A decade later, he and his wife, Julie, purchased Bass Lake Cheese Factory. Scott is a four-time graduate of the Wisconsin Master Cheesemaker® program, and his certifications include cheddar, chèvre, Colby, juustoleipa, Monterey jack and muenster.
